To cope with market demand, OrganiVerde has started Phase 2 and is in the process of installing irrigation for another 180 mu (approx. 12 ha). Virgin soil is being prepared for the first batch of organically produced vegetables, using the same technology and know-how found to be very effective in Phase 1. Planting is expected to start in about 4 weeks with the first harvest available at major supermarkets within 45-60 days thereafter.

Newsflash

If you have followed the news recently, then you know that most vegetables and fruits labeled 'organic' are by no means organically grown. The non-organic or conventionally cultured and grown kind does not fare any better. In fact, some samples taken recently from supermarket shelves contained DDT, an extremely harmful pesticide long prohibited. Permited pesticides have been found at levels exceeding the maximum by up to 40 times. We must emphasize that the samples were not labeled 'organic', but it goes to show that there are very loose, if any, standards or inspections when it comes to vegetables and fruits before they are being sold in supermarkets.
